Saab has received two new orders from Airbus Defence and Space for the Arexis sensor system for the German Air Force's Eurofighter EK. The total order value amounts to 549 million euros, according to a press release from Saab. Deliveries will take place between 2025 and 2028.
The first order concerns the continued integration of Arexis into the Eurofighter programme and amounts to approximately 291 million euros. The second, valued at around 258 million euros, includes AI technology from both Saab and the defence company Helsing, and is conditional upon governmental approval.
– We are proud to deliver Arexis to the German Air Force, which further strengthens the Swedish-German cooperation, says Micael Johansson, Saab's President and CEO, in the press release.
The deal follows Germany's decision in 2023 to select Arexis as the sensor system for its future electronic warfare aircraft. The system was to be installed on 15 of the Luftwaffe's Eurofighter aircraft, replacing the previous role filled by the Tornado ECR. In March 2024, the first order was confirmed, and today's announcement signifies a continued expansion of the Swedish-German collaboration in advanced avionics.
