Saab has signed an agreement with the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command and received an initial order for the RBS 70 NG air defence system. The order value amounts to 1.2 billion Swedish kronor.
The agreement gives Finland the option to place further orders for the RBS 70 NG in the future, as well as for training, spare parts and maintenance equipment, according to a press release from Saab.
"We are proud to continue supporting the Finnish Defence Forces and helping to protect the country's airspace. With the RBS 70 NG, Finland gains a state-of-the-art short-range air defence capability to effectively counter evolving air threats," says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's Dynamics business area.
The Finnish Defence Forces have used an earlier version of the RBS 70 since 2008. The latest generation, the RBS 70 NG, uses a laser beam-riding missile with a guidance method that Saab describes as jam-resistant.
