Saab Modernises German Taurus: 1.7 Billion Kronor
Saab has received an order worth 1.7 billion SEK for the maintenance and modernisation of the TAURUS KEPD 350 cruise missile. The contract, which spans the period from 2025 to 2035, includes a comprehensive system upgrade and a ten-year lifecycle maintenance of the German Air Force's TAURUS missiles.

The order comes from the German company TAURUS Systems, a joint venture between MBDA Germany and Saab, following an initial order from the German defence procurement agency, BAAINBw.

- TAURUS KEPD 350 provides the user with the capability to engage targets at long distances even during the most challenging missions. The new upgrades offer the German Air Force a significant capability enhancement, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's business area Dynamics, in the company's press release.

TAURUS KEPD 350 is a cruise missile launched from fighter aircraft and has a range of over 500 km. The missile is designed to engage stationary targets, including bunkers and other protected targets.

Sweden has also decided to acquire the TAURUS KEPD 350 to provide a long-range attack capability to the Swedish Armed Forces. According to the Swedish Armed Forces' annual report 2024, FMV has been tasked with procuring the system from Germany and ordering its integration on the JAS 39C for an initial capability. Further integration on the JAS 39E is planned at a later stage. Deliveries of the TAURUS KEPD 350 for Swedish operation are expected in 2028.
