Saab becomes the main investor in an ongoing funding round for the Swedish-American space technology company Pythom. In total, Saab is investing 10 million dollars in the company, which develops rockets with a focus on low costs, rapid deployment, and ease of use.
According to Saab, the investment will strengthen the company's technical capabilities in the space sector and contribute to building Swedish capacities in the field. Pythom operates in both Sweden and the USA and works with systems that aim to offer alternative and complementary solutions for space access.
– Pythom's vision and technology offer an opportunity to develop Sweden's and its allies' space capabilities in a way that is both pragmatic and forward-looking, says Marcus Wandt, Head of Group Strategy and Technology at Saab.
The investment is part of Saab's strategy to accelerate development in technology areas deemed relevant for future defence needs. Pythom plans its first space mission within the coming years.
