Saab Expands in the USA
Saab plans to establish a new production facility in the state of Michigan for the manufacturing of ammunition and components. The new facility is intended to strengthen the company's presence in the American market and contribute to increased production capacity, according to a press release from the company.

– The USA is one of our largest customers in support weapons, and the new facility in Michigan is an important step in Saab's growth strategy to meet the increasing demand globally, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's business area Dynamics in the press release.

The facility will focus on the production of ammunition for support weapons and components for precision weapons. Construction will begin in 2024, and initial production is expected to start in early 2026.

Saab has recently won several contracts with American defense branches to deliver the Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifle and associated ammunition.

The state's governor, Gretchen Whitmer, welcomes the decision that Saab chose Michigan. According to a press release from the governor's office, Saab received support of 3.5 million dollars from the Michigan Business Development Program.
