Saab has acquired the British AI company BlueBear to strengthen its position in autonomous systems and AI. BlueBear will serve as a center for concept development within Saab.

Saab has acquired the British AI company BlueBear. BlueBear is a provider of autonomous systems for swarms of drones based on AI for defense and security applications. The company will serve as a center for concept development and offer expertise that enhances innovation, Saab stated in a press release on August 31.

– The acquisition of BlueBear is another step in line with our growth strategy to secure Saab's position and competitive advantage in one of our priority countries. BlueBear is a world-leading provider of autonomous systems for swarms of drones based on AI for advanced defense and security applications. The company fits well into Saab's ambition to leverage emerging technologies in autonomous systems and AI, says Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab in the press release.

– For BlueBear, it is an important step on our journey to now become part of Saab. We see many new opportunities regarding autonomous systems for maritime, airborne, and ground-based applications.
