The government announces in an opinion piece in Dagens Nyheter on 27 April that the Swedish National Defence Radio Establishment, FRA, will become the principal authority for the National Cybersecurity Centre. A special envoy for international cyber issues will be appointed shortly. This will replace the current arrangement where four agencies shared responsibility.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and the five other ministers argue that when four agencies were responsible for the centre, problems arose, and they refer in the article to the fact that governance, follow-up, and accountability suffered as a result of silo mentality and unclear division of responsibilities. However, the currently affiliated agencies will still contribute, and the forms for this will be analysed promptly, according to the article.

Furthermore, the government will task the centre with strengthening cooperation with the business sector and developing work regarding situational awareness. Special emphasis will be placed on the energy, transport, and telecom sectors for information exchange about threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.

This year, the government will begin work on a national information and cybersecurity strategy. Additionally, a strategy for cyber and digital issues within foreign and security policy will also be developed. Finally, the government announces that they will appoint a special envoy for international cyber issues.
