A man has been sentenced to two years in prison by the Göta Court of Appeal for aggravated unauthorised handling of classified information. This is the third verdict in the Court of Appeal and the ninth verdict overall in a series of legal cases involving individuals who have mapped military protected sites in recent years.

– The judicial practice that has developed in this area in recent years speaks for itself. Disseminating information about defence facilities and military infrastructure is a serious crime that ultimately threatens to expose Sweden to great risk. Considering that the intelligence threat against Sweden and the Swedish Armed Forces is high, it is especially important to protect such information, says Colonel Jörgen Röstberg, head of the Security Office at Must.

Several new charges have been brought in the same series of legal cases, and several more are expected during the year.
