ORP Henryk Zygalski is the second and final SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) ship being built for Poland under the DELFIN programme. The first ship, ORP Jerzy Różycki, was launched on 1 July 2025. According to Saab, both ships will be equipped with the necessary reconnaissance systems and will undergo sea trials before entering operational service.
– “We are pleased to see the second Polish SIGINT ship successfully launched today. With this important project we are strengthening cooperation between Swedish and Polish industries in support of European security in the Baltic Sea region,” says Mats Wicksell, head of Saab's business area Kockums, in the stated source.
Saab states that the ships are intended for signals intelligence at sea and will enable the collection of intelligence data across the entire maritime electromagnetic spectrum. Within the DELFIN programme, Saab is the main supplier. Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. is responsible for the shipbuilding as a subcontractor, while the Polish company MMC assists with design work. Saab is fully responsible for the delivery and integration of the mission systems. Other actors within the Polish defence industry are also participating in the project.
