The prosecutor argues that disclosure to foreign powers could cause significant damage to the Swedish defence and impair our ability to defend the country in war, as the objects are of high protective value. The preliminary investigation has been conducted by the Swedish Security Service under the direction of a prosecutor at the National Unit for Security Cases.
– I consider the offence to be serious because the information concerned matters of great importance to the nation's defence. The man is suspected of having promoted, disclosed, acquired, and dealt with these secret pieces of information. He has been behind and administered the database that was the basis for the exchange of classified information, says senior prosecutor Lars Hedvall at the National Unit for Security Cases in the press release.
