Finnish companies Patria and Valmet Automotive have signed a multi-year agreement for the manufacture of armoured vehicles at Valmet Automotive's facility in Uusikaupunki (Nystad, southwestern Finland), with a planned capacity of hundreds of vehicles per year.

Patria states that the agreement builds on a technology transfer agreement signed in December 2025 and that the cooperation concerns the manufacture of Patria 6x6 vehicles. The commercial value of the agreement has not been disclosed.

Jussi Järvinen, Deputy CEO for Protected Mobility at Patria, comments on the agreement:

"Technology transfer has been a central part of Patria's success, and this expansion provides enormous scalability," he says according to Patria's press release.

Patria states that the cooperation generates approximately 240 jobs per 100 vehicles when Finland's subcontractor network is included. Through technology transfer, expertise in armoured vehicle manufacturing is passed on to selected partners, which according to the company improves supply security and strengthens the national industry.

Pasi Rannus, CEO of Valmet Automotive, says in the press release:

"This agreement strengthens the cooperation and secures our position within the Finnish and European defence sector, with full capacity expected in early 2027."
