Oscar Jonsson is the military scholar whose research on Russian military strategic thinking brought him into the spotlight due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine last year. Yesterday, the member organisation Sveriges Kommunikatörer awarded the Great Communication Prize in six categories, with Oscar winning the honorary prize alongside Julia Agha, CEO of the media house Alkompis.

Award Motivation:
In a time of significant change, war in our vicinity, and where many people experience increased insecurity, influence campaigns and disinformation easily become fertile ground for increased distrust. It is therefore crucial to have facts and transparency in both traditional and digital communication channels. This year's honorary prize goes to two individuals who have reached many people and, with facts, have countered the spread of rumours.

– Already when I started researching, I quickly realised that it does not matter how smart you are if you cannot convey your message. After that, I read a bit about public speaking and practised it, and it feels very fun and honouring that it seems to have succeeded in some way, says Oscar Jonsson in an article on the Swedish Defence University website.
