The government has decided on additional purchases of defense equipment for Ukraine valued at approximately 1.5 billion SEK, announces the Ministry of Defense. The measure implements parts of the 18th and 19th military support packages previously announced by the Tidö parties.

The decision enables the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration to increase an ongoing order of barrels for the Archer artillery system, which means that over ten additional barrels will be sent to Ukraine. Additionally, it includes long-range ground weapons, underwater systems, and a logistics package with trucks, wheel loaders, and a Swedish side-lift system for rapid container handling in terrain. The equipment is procured through existing framework agreements with Swedish and international suppliers.

– This decision puts pressure on Russia's invasion forces on the ground, underwater, and in the air and enables Ukraine to continue using the Swedish Archer systems that have performed well on the battlefield, says Minister of Defense Pål Jonson (M) in the press release.

The 18th package, presented on January 30, includes 13.5 billion SEK with a focus on newly acquired equipment and training. The 19th package from May 27 includes financial contributions of 4.8 billion SEK to international funds and coalitions. With today's decision, parts of these frameworks are concretized through orders focusing on artillery maintenance, range capability, and logistics.

The government states that the support is part of Sweden's long-term strategy to strengthen Ukraine's military resilience and that continued support will be adapted to Ukraine's prioritized needs.
