A support package for Ukraine's air defence valued at approximately 1.25 billion kronor from the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) was presented on 13 June. The support package was presented in connection with a meeting in Amsterdam between the defence ministers of the ten countries involved in the operational defence cooperation Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), according to a press release from the Ministry of Defence on 13 June.

- Ukraine has a need for additional air defence, which we can now provide. Securing the airspace is crucial for Ukraine to reclaim its territory and regain its freedom. The support is another example of how we cooperate internationally to provide long-term support to Ukraine against Russian aggression. The political, economic, and military support for Ukraine is one of the most important tasks of our time, says Defence Minister Pål Jonson in the Ministry of Defence's press release.

IFU is a UK-led fund that gathers financial support from partner countries to procure prioritised materiel from industry for rapid delivery to Ukraine. So far, the fund amounts to over 520 million pounds, equivalent to nearly 7 billion kronor, which has been collected from the United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, and Lithuania.

- We will strengthen cooperation to detect and deter threats in our vicinity with a particular focus on threats to critical infrastructure at sea. Together, we enhance security and stability in the North Atlantic, the northern areas, and the Baltic Sea region, says Defence Minister Pål Jonson.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the countries on Twitter:

Thank you to our allies from the Joint Expeditionary Force @JEFnations for a powerful assistance package worth over €100 million to strengthen air defence. At a time when Russia agonizingly intensifies its daily missile terror, more power for our air defence is the key to protecting skies and lives of Ukrainians.
