The Swedish Armed Forces, together with the Officers' Association and SACO-S FM, have signed two new collective agreements with conditions for pilots in the Air Force. They have also agreed to raise the pilots' salaries, according to press releases from the Swedish Armed Forces and the Officers' Association on 19 June.

The new collective agreements for the pilots in the Swedish Armed Forces contain several different parts. Among other things, they receive a pilot allowance consisting of 15 percent of the salary.

Those being trained as future pilots in the Air Force, and who are not yet placed in the salary structure for pilots, receive an allowance of 3000 kronor per month during their study period, as they are now exempt from working time regulations. This money is in addition to the 5000 kronor per month they already receive.

- We are self-critical and could of course have acted earlier, but this agreement is more positive than I could have hoped for. I am very pleased that we have now reached new conditions for the Air Force's pilots. We have been proactive and open about wanting to find a solution, and we have now done so together with the employee organisations. Now the hard work continues to implement the new guidelines, says the Air Force Chief, Major General Jonas Wikman to the Swedish Armed Forces.

Pilots who do not have 55 years as the retirement age receive an additional pension premium. The amount is 4000 kronor per month for 20 years. The money begins to be allocated to the pension 10 years after starting pilot training.

- We are very pleased with the commitment and willingness the Swedish Armed Forces have now shown in these negotiations. The Officers' Association works for military personnel to be leading in salary within the state, and the agreement for the pilots is a step in the right direction. I look forward to continued close cooperation with the leadership of the Air Force as well as with the Swedish Armed Forces, says Lars Fresker, Chairman of the Officers' Association, in the association's press release.

- From our side, we view very positively that together with the Officers' Association and the Swedish Armed Forces, we have reached an agreement. Our view is that this agreement is forward-looking and will provide our pilots with the long-term security they so well deserve, says SACO-S FM Chairman Toni Dufvenberg to the Officers' Association.

The collective agreements in their entirety are valid from 1 June 2023, and the new salary levels will be included in the salary review on 1 October.
