A Norwegian sniper team from the Panserbataljonen (Armoured Battalion) secured first place in the United States Army's European Best Sniper Team Competition 2025 in Germany. Denmark and Finland were also among the 22 participating countries.

The Norwegian team was declared the winner after scoring 463 points in the competition held at the Grafenwoehr Training Area. Latvia came in second with 429 points, and Greece took third place with 383.5 points.

– It is valuable to go somewhere else and see that what we train for at home actually works in other environments as well. It has been a good week to test what we practice in our own unit and see that it holds up, said one of the Norwegian participants.

According to the United States Army, 35 two-man teams from 22 countries participated, including Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, and Norway. Over six days, 16 events were conducted, covering shooting, target designation at known and unknown distances, and navigation.

Command Sgt. Maj. Paul Fedorisin, from the 7th Army Training Command, highlighted the importance of cooperation:

– You have all directly contributed to interoperability across the continent. Events like these provide our countries with the opportunity to understand each other's capabilities and culture, while also strengthening cohesion and knowledge exchange among snipers, he said in the press release.
