Norway will host the Nordic defence cooperation meeting in Trøndelag (central Norway) on 5–6 May. The meeting will be attended by defence ministers from the Nordic countries.
– I look forward to welcoming my Nordic colleagues to my home region. The region is situated in the heart of Norway, geographically at the centre of the Nordic area, and is at the same time a gateway for our allies, says Norway's Defence Minister Tore O. Sandvik in a press release from the Norwegian Government.
The press release states that the topics of the meeting will centre on strengthened Nordic cooperation within the framework of NATO. This includes military mobility, air defence, cooperation on combat aircraft, and drone collaboration. Furthermore, current issues such as continued support for Ukraine and security policy developments will be discussed.
Norway assumed the chairmanship of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) on 1 January 2026, taking over from the previous chair country Finland.
