The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (Forsvarsmateriell, FMA) has signed a new framework agreement with Umoe Mandal AS regarding the maintenance of the Norwegian Navy's mine countermeasure vessels and corvettes. The agreement has a total value of up to 870 million Norwegian kroner.
– This framework agreement is crucial for ensuring high technical availability and long-term stability for some of the Norwegian Navy's most central vessels. At the same time, we are building on a good and established cooperation with Norwegian industry, says Stein Håvard Bergstad, Head of Maritime Capabilities at the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, in a press release.
The agreement covers a wide range of services, including planned and corrective maintenance, repairs, modifications, and life extension measures. Engineering support and docking services are also included in the agreement.
The vessel classes affected by the agreement are Skjold-class corvettes and Oksøy- and Alta-class mine countermeasure vessels.
Umoe Mandal has held a similar agreement during the previous period. According to the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, this means that experience and established work processes are carried forward, which is expected to provide a more efficient start-up and lower risk compared to a supplier change.
The procurement has been carried out by the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency in cooperation with the Norwegian Navy.
