The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (Forsvarsmateriell, FMA) has signed a new agreement with Equipnor for the delivery of the combat vest system M22. The contract runs until 2031 and is valued at 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner.
– With this framework agreement, we create the conditions for the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvaret) to acquire more new combat vests that protect our soldiers, says Gro Jære, director at FMA.
The agreement is effective from February 2026 and extends for five years, with an option to extend for an additional five years. According to a press release from FMA, the system is set to eventually replace older equipment such as the protective vest M07 and combat vest M10.
The M22 system is developed by Equipnor, part of the NFM Group, in collaboration with FMA and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt, FFI). The development focused on weight, functionality, and fit for both men and women, according to the press release.
The system is designed so that individual components, such as buckles and clips, can be replaced when worn. This is considered by FMA to save resources for both the Armed Forces and the environment.
