The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (FMA) has signed a contract with Germany's FFG for three Wisent 2 armoured recovery vehicles (ARVs). Deliveries are planned for 2029–2030.

The contract is worth about NOK 370 million. It is funded through the Nansen programme to replace equipment Norway previously donated to Ukraine.

The Wisent 2 ARV is built on a Leopard 2 chassis. The Norwegian Army's engineer vehicle, the Wisent 2 AEV, uses the same platform. Norway first ordered six ARVs in 2015 and six engineer vehicles in 2018. More orders followed in 2023 and 2024. According to FMA, the new contract brings the total to 12 recovery vehicles and 17 engineer vehicles.

— As the Army grows and receives more heavy armoured vehicles, it is important that the capacity to recover and support the materiel also increases, says Tomas Beck, head of Land and Joint Capabilities at FMA.
