The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (FMA) has awarded three parallel framework agreements for the maintenance, repair and modification of the Norwegian Armed Forces’ vessels. Their combined estimated value is up to NOK 970 million, excluding VAT.
— When we strengthen the Navy, maintenance capacity must also keep pace, said Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik.
The suppliers are CCB AS, Westcon Yards AS and Moreld Apply (Apply AS). The agreements run for four years, with an option to extend for three more. They cover surface vessels, submarines and other maritime materiel. They set terms for future work, and no specific orders have been announced.
According to FMA, the agreements will add capacity when the Navy’s own resources and existing contracts are not enough. Their main purpose is to take pressure off the Navy’s workshop at Haakonsvern. They can also cover maintenance for allied forces in Norway. Suppliers must be able to support the Armed Forces in crisis and war.
— Maintenance and high availability of military vessels are crucial to the Armed Forces’ operational capability and readiness, says FMA director Gro Jære.
