A new dining hall with an accompanying kitchen has been inaugurated at P 18 in Tofta (Sweden). The building, named Hwitstjernan, is part of the ongoing expansion of the regiment's infrastructure. The project has been carried out in collaboration with the contractor Peab.
The new facility houses both a kitchen and dining hall and is designed to meet the daily needs of the operation. The building now enables the serving of food from the new kitchen section. This is according to a press release from the Swedish Fortifications Agency (Fortifikationsverket).
The project is described as the result of a collaboration between the Swedish Fortifications Agency, the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten), and Peab. During the course of the work, the parties have worked to develop a functional solution for the garrison.
The inauguration represents another step in the development of infrastructure at Tofta, according to the Swedish Fortifications Agency. The statement indicates that the completion of Hwitstjernan is part of the effort to create conditions for operations at P 18.
In conjunction with the inauguration, the textile artwork Blue Hour was also presented. The work is created by the artist Katja Beckman Ojala in collaboration with the Public Art Agency Sweden (Statens konstråd) and also functions as a sound absorber in the premises.
