– Cybersecurity is an important part of Sweden's total defense. With the new strategy, the government continues its efforts to enhance national cybersecurity, says Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Minister for Civil Defense (M), in a press release from the Ministry of Defense.
As part of the work, MSB will procure IT security analyses of municipal systems, with support from the National Defence Radio Establishment (FRA) and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). The results will be reported to MSB and the concerned municipalities.
– Sweden should be a leader in digitalization, and cybersecurity is crucial for maintaining welfare services and essential societal functions, says Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner (KD).
The strategy is based on three pillars: systematic cybersecurity work, skills development, and increased ability to handle cyber threats. It also includes an action plan with concrete measures.
The government's new national cybersecurity strategy and action plan is an important and welcome initiative to strengthen Sweden's digital resilience in an increasingly complex and challenging security environment, writes Ronja Ahlberg, Cybersecurity Lead at the Security and Defense Companies Association, on LinkedIn.
