Naval Museum Receives the Naval Base's First NATO Flag
The Naval Museum has received the first NATO flag that was raised at the Naval Base following Sweden's entry into the defence alliance. The flag was handed over at a ceremony where the head of the Naval Base, Fredrik Edwardson, formally gave it to Mats Persson, head of the Naval Museum.

– Sweden's transition from neutrality to NATO membership is one of the most significant defence policy changes in the past 200 years. As a museum tasked with documenting and preserving the history of the Navy, it is crucial for us to collect items and materials that reflect this transformative time, says Mats Persson in a press release from the Naval Museum.

The flag will become part of the museum's collections and is intended to reflect the defence policy change that Sweden is undergoing. Johan Löfgren, head of the collections unit at the Naval Museum, emphasises the importance of documenting this period from multiple perspectives.

– The collection is a documentation of a unique defence policy development. We are also collecting material from organisations with other perspectives, such as the National Association No to NATO, to create a balanced and diverse collection, he says.

During the spring, the flag will be displayed in the entrance hall of the Naval Museum in the case for the most recently collected items.
