NATO's innovation accelerator DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) is now launching ten new technology challenges to identify and develop the next generation of civil-military so-called dual-use technology. The aim is to strengthen the protection of the one billion inhabitants covered by the alliance's security guarantees.

The announcement, which opened on Monday, June 2, is directed at innovators throughout the transatlantic area. Those accepted will participate in a six-month accelerator program starting in January 2026 and will be awarded 100,000 euros in contract funds to further develop their solutions.

The technical areas the announcement focuses on include energy supply, advanced communication, electromagnetic warfare, biotechnology, logistics, unmanned systems, and decision support based on data analysis. Activities in extreme environments, maritime operations, and space-based resilience are also included.

DIANA's challenges are formulated based on the needs of NATO and its member countries, taking into account market potential and ongoing technology trends. The selected participants will have access to a network of over 180 test and verification centers in Europe and North America, as well as advice from the defense sector and industry.

The application period is open until Friday, July 11.
