The North Atlantic Council approved on 22 July 2026 NATO's common funding plan for the period 2027–2031 and a new fuel supply chain programme worth 27 billion euros.
According to a statement from NATO, the alliance's common funding ceiling is being raised to up to 6.5 billion euros for 2027. The funding plan covers the years 2027 to 2031 and aims to align common funding with the alliance's increased level of ambition.
NATO states in the announcement that the plan "provides allies with a clear and forward-looking picture of NATO's expected resource requirements and ensures that common funding keeps pace with the alliance's increased level of ambition."
The Council also formalised NATO's Fuel Supply Chain Capability Programme, a programme for the modernisation of fuel storage and distribution infrastructure. The programme amounts to 27 billion euros and includes new facilities, among them pipelines in the alliance's eastern and south-eastern member states.
Common funding supports, according to NATO, capabilities serving approximately one billion citizens, strengthens deterrence, enables operations, and maintains military readiness. The funding also covers NATO's security assistance and training programme for Ukraine.
