The government has tasked the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency with establishing a national contact point where companies can receive consolidated information on supply preparedness in normal conditions, during peacetime crises, and under heightened readiness.

The function will guide companies on matters such as production conversion, regulatory simplifications, and product- and service-specific requirements, and serve as an entry point for actors lacking a natural connection to the preparedness sectors.

Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M), Minister for Civil Defense, comments on the decision in a post on X (formerly Twitter):
– There was a lack of a clear contact point within the state during the pandemic. [...] This must not happen again. Sweden must become more resilient in the event of a new peacetime crisis or, in the worst case, war, he writes, describing the task as a concrete measure to utilize the 50 billion SEK allocated to civilian capabilities in total defense.

The contact point is being built as a network to convey the current situation and facilitate communication channels between public and private actors.

– The purpose is to strengthen the public sector's ability to meet society's needs for supply-critical goods and services by leveraging companies' capacity, says Johan Dozzi at MSB.

MSB will collaborate with the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, the National Board of Trade, the National Agency for Public Procurement, and FMV, as well as incorporate experiences from RISE. An interim report is due by October 30, 2025, with the final report on May 4, 2026.
