Mattias Hjorth new CEO and Group President for Astor

Mattias Hjorth has been appointed as the new CEO and Group President of Astor Group, starting on August 1st. He succeeds Odd Werin and will focus on developing and expanding the company.

The board of Astor Group has appointed Mattias Hjorth as its new CEO and Group President starting August 1. He will take over the role from Odd Werin, who will continue in his position until then to ensure a smooth transition, the company states in a press release.

– I am grateful for the board's trust and look forward to continuing to develop, strengthen, and build on the strong momentum that Astor Group has. We have an important task ahead as we need to accelerate our collective defense capability. Together with the management team and all employees, I look forward to ensuring that Astor Group is an agile, sharp, and innovative supplier within the defense industry that can produce advanced materials and smart military systems with short lead times,” says incoming CEO Mattias Hjorth in the press release.

Hjorth most recently served as CEO at CAG Security and has previously held responsibilities within the business area of Surveillance, EW & Aircraft Systems at Saab, where he was responsible for business development in electronic warfare.

Mattias has held several other senior positions in the electronic warfare field and has worked with airborne Electronic Attack, self-protection systems for the Gripen, Tornado, and Eurofighter combat aircraft systems, and contributed to NATO's EW cooperation.

– I, along with the board, am very pleased to welcome Mattias as the new CEO of Astor Group. His solid background and experience in the defense and security industry are a strong asset for us. With his sharp expertise in business and operational development as well as excellent leadership skills, Mattias is the right person to lead Astor Group forward through the expansive phase we are in, together with the management team and the board,” says Chairman Lars Granbom.

In his new role, Hjorth will focus on developing Astor Group and building the organization to meet the company's growth journey.

– Astor is incredibly fast-growing and has quickly transitioned from being a smaller company to a group consisting of stable operations with incredible potential. Against this background, the group is ready for me to now hand over the baton to Mattias, who with new perspectives can continue the development of the group. I will next focus on fulfilling my commitment and welcoming Mattias in August,” says current CEO and Group President Odd Werin.
