Lithuania's Minister of Defense Dovilė Šakalienė has met with representatives from BAE Systems Hägglunds to discuss the acquisition of CV90 combat vehicles and how cooperation with the Lithuanian defense industry can be deepened. During the meeting, the importance of rapid implementation and timely deliveries was emphasized to meet Lithuania's goal of achieving full operational capability for its defense division by 2030, according to a press release from Lithuania's Ministry of Defense.

– Lithuania's goal is to have a long-term and sustainable industrial cooperation that includes Lithuania in the supply chains for the CV90 and ensures maintenance and service in the country, said Dovilė Šakalienė in the press release.

Lithuania plans to participate in a joint procurement program for the CV90 together with Sweden, Finland, and Norway. According to previous statements from the Swedish Army Chief Jonny Lindfors, these countries are exploring the possibilities of joint procurement of combat vehicles, which FSN previously reported on.

– We aim for joint development, joint procurement, and joint use. This allows us to streamline supply chains and ensure that we can maintain the vehicles, said Lindfors in an interview with Breaking Defense.
