– I am grateful to have received a job I explicitly stated I wanted. I want to make a difference, and MSS is a place where one makes a difference, said Widerström during the ceremony.
Widerström takes over from Lieutenant Colonel Johan Skiöld, who has been acting head of the Land Warfare Centre since June 2024. Skiöld assumed the position when Brigadier General Rickard Johansson left his post to become the head of the 1st Division.
– Warm congratulations Lennart, best of luck with yet another important mission! commented Supreme Commander Michael Claesson on the Land Warfare Centre's post on Facebook.
Lennart Widerström most recently served as the head of both the Southern Scanian Regiment (P 7) and the Southern Scanian Brigade (MekB 7). Under his leadership, the Land Warfare Centre will continue to train professional officers, develop tactics and equipment, and train the army's combat units.
