KSAT Signs Launch Agreement for First Hyper Satellites
KSAT has signed an agreement with SpaceX to launch the first Hyper satellites at the end of 2027, marking an important step towards creating a global relay network in orbit for fast and continuous data delivery. The Hyper project aims to move parts of KSAT's ground station capacity to space and strengthen the company's world-leading capability in orbit-based relays.
KSAT has signed an agreement with SpaceX for the launch of the first Hyper satellites. The launch is planned for the end of 2027 and marks a central step in the development of the company's new space-based relay network.
KSAT states in its press release that the Hyper project aims to move parts of the company's ground station capacity into orbit. According to the same source, the initiative involves loops of relay satellites in low Earth orbit to create continuous and low-latency data delivery globally. The Hyper layer complements KSAT's existing ground network and is described in the material as a way to provide customers with access to connectivity when and where it is needed.
The documentation further states that the mission is "an important milestone" for the transition from design to the space phase.
– "This is a defining step for us. Securing this first launch brings Hyper one step closer to space, and one step closer to delivering even lower latencies for our customers. This strengthens our commitment to building a world-leading in-orbit relay capability," says Edvard Foss, General Manager for Hyper, in the same press release.
