Kristersson in Oslo for JEF Summit
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is participating in the JEF summit in Oslo to discuss European security and support for Ukraine. The meeting focuses on developing the JEF cooperation with a particular emphasis on Northern Europe.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office, the meeting addressed issues of European security, continued support for Ukraine, maritime security, and how the JEF cooperation can be further developed with a particular focus on Northern Europe. The summit was led by Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The newly appointed national security advisor Tobias Thyberg accompanies the Prime Minister to Oslo on his first official trip in the role, to assist the Prime Minister in security policy matters.
In connection with the meeting, the leaders will also discuss preparations for NATO's upcoming summit in The Hague. The JEF cooperation was founded in 2014 and aims to enable rapid and coordinated response in the event of a crisis or conflict in the region.
At the previous JEF summit, held in Tallinn in December 2024, Ukraine and regional stability were also in focus. The occasion also marked JEF's ten-year anniversary.
