Norwegian company Kongsberg has received an additional order from the US Department of Defense worth 54 million dollars. The order mainly covers autonomous underwater vehicles and associated equipment.
According to a press release from Kongsberg, the order is an expansion of an existing development agreement with the US defence innovation organisation Defense Innovation Unit (DIU).
"This agreement continues our collaboration with DIU and the US Navy, and demonstrates confidence in Kongsberg's autonomous underwater technology," says Group President and CEO Eirik Lie in the press release.
The agreement is part of Kongsberg's ongoing collaboration with DIU and the US Navy on autonomous underwater systems. The press release does not provide further details on the number of vehicles or delivery times for the US order.
