– We want to create a bridge for people who have the right skills but lack industry experience. The course provides a solid foundation for understanding the structure, technology, and working methods of the defense sector, says Veronica Holmberg, responsible for the training.
– The introductory program is Knowit's contribution to supplying civilian expertise to the sector to enable innovation, personnel supply, and ultimately increased defense capability. By offering a structured path into the sector, conditions are created for this expertise not only to be established but also to remain and develop in line with future needs, she continues.
New to the Defense Sector is aimed at individuals with an academic background and a few years of professional experience, who are interested in working with defense-related issues within government agencies or industry. Through six course sessions, including two half-days, participants receive a broad introduction to, among other things, military system supply, terminology, and the interaction between key players in the sector with a focus on the Swedish Armed Forces' organization. The course is conducted physically and includes exercises, self-study, and networking elements.
– It feels really good to be able to offer a new term. The response has been strong, and the need for civilian expertise in the sector is great, says Jaime Rico, course leader.
The training is based on Knowit's many years of experience in supporting, among others, FMV in procuring systems. It has been developed to meet an increasing need for broadened competence. The goal is to accelerate understanding of the sector's requirements and create conditions for participants to quickly contribute in an environment that partly differs from others.
– The most valuable thing I take with me is the knowledge of how the sector is structured and how my role fits in. I feel more confident with the terminology and believe that I can quickly familiarize myself with new assignments in the future, says Harriet Rundquist from Svekon, a former course participant.
