Foreign veteran Kim Svensson was named Veteran of the Year by Sverker Göranson, chairman of the Swedish Veterans Association and former Supreme Commander. Kim Svensson has served in Kosovo and is a co-founder of Combat Camera. He has contributed many covers to the member magazine Svensk Veteran, and his images have featured in the magazine for many years.

- We are extremely proud to name Kim Svensson as Veteran of the Year, whose images have helped to make the concept of foreign veterans and our association more well-known, said Göranson during the medal ceremony according to a post on the association's Facebook page.

The Swedish Veterans Association Fredsbaskrarna (SVF) aims to preserve and develop the camaraderie founded during foreign service as a peace soldier in UN service or UN-sanctioned missions. Veteran of the Year is the Swedish Veterans Association's highest honour and has been awarded annually since 2005. The award goes to someone who has made a special effort to highlight Sweden's civilian and military foreign veterans.

- I still can't believe it. For all these years, I have been the one photographing the Veteran of the Year, and now I stand here myself. It is completely surreal. I feel incredibly honoured and could never have dreamed of receiving this award. When Sverker called me to tell me about the nomination, I was completely taken aback and thought he was joking. I am happy to contribute what I can to the veteran movement, said Kim Svensson.
