Insta and Tencore have signed a letter of intent to establish a distributed production arrangement with Finnish industry partners. The letter of intent was signed on 23 August in connection with a meeting between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Finland's President Alexander Stubb.
"Our cooperation is now moving from plans towards concrete production, combining Tencore's experience from the Ukrainian battlefield with the technical expertise and production capability of Insta and Finnish industry," says Petri Reiman, CEO of Insta Advance.
According to a press release from Insta, the first step in the cooperation is to manufacture unmanned ground vehicles of the TerMIT 2.0 model for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The letter of intent covers manufacturing and assembly as well as development of the supply chain. The companies also plan joint product development to integrate artificial intelligence and autonomous solutions into various types of platforms.
The production arrangement is to be built on a network of Finnish industry partners. According to Insta, the distributed model will make it possible to rapidly expand production capacity outside Ukraine, as well as strengthen production continuity and supply preparedness.
TerMIT 2.0 is a modular unmanned ground vehicle developed by Tencore. The platform can be adapted for purposes including logistics, casualty evacuation, mine clearance, fire support and electronic warfare.
Insta and Tencore signed an initial memorandum of understanding on 24 February. The new letter of intent brings the cooperation closer to production in Finland, the establishment of an industrial network and the formation of a joint venture. The press release does not specify a timeline for the start of production.
