The Home Guard's training bonus for fulfilled contract days, the so-called contract bonus, is being raised from SEK 875 to SEK 1,300 per contract day. This was announced by the Swedish Armed Forces. The bonus is paid out when a Home Guard soldier has completed all contract days under their service agreement, and the increase also applies to additional contract days.
The decision was made by the Supreme Commander and entered into force on 1 October 2026. The increase applies retroactively from 1 January 2026, meaning that soldiers who had already completed all contract days before 1 October 2026 will receive a retroactive payment in November 2026.
"With this increase, we want to make clear, among other things, our appreciation for the commitment of Home Guard soldiers, who leave their families and civilian jobs for a few days each year to contribute and be an important part of Sweden's defence," says Major General Mattias Ardin, Inspector of the Home Guard (Rikshemvärnschef).
