ICEYE states on LinkedIn that the company has signed a multi-year, multi-million agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) in Sweden to deliver Swedish SAR systems to the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten).

According to ICEYE, the agreement includes the purchase of SAR satellites, data and software, as well as ground and technical systems required to establish a Swedish, space-based surveillance and intelligence capability. ICEYE states that SAR, synthetic aperture radar, can provide image and data collection in all weather and light conditions.

ICEYE reports that the satellites can deliver data with a ground resolution down to 16 centimetres, day and night, through clouds, rain, and snow. The company indicates that this initiative is part of the Swedish Armed Forces' rearmament and Sweden's national defence and security strategy.

– “ICEYE is proud to collaborate with the Swedish Armed Forces and deliver sovereign space-based ISR capabilities that operate in all weather and light conditions in Northern Europe and the Arctic. We particularly welcome cooperation with Sweden and our closest Nordic NATO allies to strengthen security and resilience on NATO's northeastern flank,” says Seppo Aaltonen, VP of Nordics and NATO, ICEYE, in the cited source translated.
