Hungarian Foreign Minister: 'Just a technical matter to complete the ratification process'
Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announces that the ratification of Sweden's NATO application may soon be completed. He emphasises that only a technicality remains now.
Hungary's Foreign Minister, Szijjártó Péter, writes in a post on his Facebook page that the focus of the meeting will be Ukraine and Sweden's accession to NATO. Hungary has not yet ratified Sweden's NATO application, but that issue may soon be concluded. Péter concludes the post by writing "completing the ratification process is now just a formality."
In full, Foreign Minister Péter writes the following:
Hungary's position is clear: we need peace in Ukraine as soon as possible, as it is the only way to save human lives. Our position regarding Sweden is also clear: the government supports NATO accession, which is why we presented this to parliament several months ago. Completing the ratification process is now just a formality.
