The Swedish submarine rescue vessel HMS Belos has arrived in Turku (southwestern Finland) for a three-day visit. During this time, Swedish and Finnish divers are conducting joint exercises in the Gulf of Finland, focusing on preparedness for underwater incidents such as sabotage or submarine accidents.

– The cooperation between the divers enhances our readiness to handle, for example, underwater sabotage, says Commander Toni Joutsia, Chief of Staff at the Coastal Fleet, in a press release from the Finnish Navy.

The visit is part of a long-term Swedish-Finnish collaboration on underwater operations. HMS Belos has previously assisted in the recovery of the anchor from the tanker Eagle S, following cable damage in the Gulf of Finland in early 2025.
