The government proposes that Sweden in 2025 will contribute various military units to NATO's deterrence and defense. For the first time as an allied member of NATO, Sweden plans to make armed forces available for NATO's collective defense, according to a bill submitted to the parliament today, writes the Ministry of Defense in a press release.

The contribution includes up to six naval vessels to NATO's maritime forces, Jas 39 Gripen for airspace surveillance and incident readiness, as well as ground forces for NATO's forward presence in Latvia, also known as Forward Land Forces.

Additionally, Sweden will also contribute special forces, amphibious units, and more ground forces to peacetime security operations.
