During the government meeting today, the government decided to appoint Lena Lindgren Schelin as Director General and Head of the Swedish Coast Guard. Since March 2018, Lena Lindgren Schelin has been the Director General at the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). She will assume her new position on 1 September, according to press releases from IMY and the Ministry of Defence.

– I am very happy and proud of the development IMY has undergone over the past five years. These have been fantastic years where we have grown and built a robust organisation, developed and streamlined work processes, and continuously increased our focus on contributing to a larger societal context. Above all, I am pleased with all the wonderful colleagues I have had the privilege to work with and am impressed by their commitment to creating a secure and sustainable information society, says Lena Lindgren Schelin in IMY's press release.

According to the Government Offices, Lindgren Schelin has experience from various leadership positions within the judiciary and public administration, including at the Swedish Economic Crime Authority and the Swedish Schools Inspectorate. She has been Director General at IMY since March 2018 and will assume her new position on 1 September.

– I am pleased that the government today has decided to appoint Lena Lindgren Schelin as the new Director General of the Swedish Coast Guard. I am convinced that she will manage the legacy left by her predecessor well, while also guiding the authority into a new and challenging era, says Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin in the Ministry of Defence's press release.
