Saab has received an order from BAE Systems for the Giraffe 4A radar system, which will be delivered to the U.S. Air Force's operations in Europe. The contract is valued at approximately 525 million SEK, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027, Saab states in a press release.

– The Giraffe 4A is a multifunction radar that provides the user with a range of surveillance capabilities to support comprehensive air defense, says Erik Smith, CEO of Saab in the USA.

The Giraffe 4A radar system is a multifunction radar with AESA technology that combines air surveillance and can also be used in air defense. The main contractor for the contract is BAE Systems Technical Solutions & Services Inc., which will collaborate with Saab to deliver the system to the end customer.

– We are very pleased that the U.S. Air Force has chosen the Giraffe 4A to enhance its long-range radar surveillance capability in Europe. The system contributes to strengthening the U.S. Air Force in Europe, says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab's business area Surveillance.
