The government has decided on a new regulation that allows companies to apply for special export credit guarantees from the Swedish Export Credit Agency for defense exports to the Ukrainian state, announces the Ministry of Defense. The guarantees, which come into effect on July 29, can cover up to 500 million SEK and apply to the purchase of military equipment, dual-use products, or related technical assistance.

– This decision enhances Ukrainian defense capability. It is beneficial for both Swedish and Ukrainian security that it is now easier to export defense materials to Ukraine, says Minister of Defense Pål Jonson (M).

After the Ukrainian state or co-financiers have paid at least 30 percent in advance to the exporting company, the guarantee covers up to 100 percent of the remaining amount. The support can be granted for deals made until December 31, 2030, and is part of Sweden's broader political, humanitarian, and military support to Ukraine, writes the Ministry of Defense.
