The Norwegian Defence and Security Industries Association (FSi) and the Norwegian Industrial Forum for Space Activities (NIFRO) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening collaboration between Norway’s defence and security industry and its space sector.
According to FSi, the agreement was signed by FSi director Torleiv Opland and NIFRO managing director Gunnar Heløe. The organizations cite the growing importance of space-based capabilities to defence, security and preparedness, as well as significant shared technological and industrial interests, as the basis for the agreement.
Under the agreement, FSi and NIFRO will work to improve information sharing, coordination and cooperation on matters of mutual interest to their member companies.
The agreement clarifies the organizations’ respective roles and areas of responsibility. It also opens the door to cooperation on activities, events and industrial policy matters. The stated goal is to help create favourable conditions for Norwegian companies and strengthen Norwegian competitiveness at the intersection of defence and space technology.
