On 27–28 May, Emmanuel Chiva, head of the French procurement agency DGA, visited Stockholm and Karlskoga to discuss and deepen defence materiel cooperation with Sweden. Accompanying the delegation was Lieutenant General Gaël Diaz de Tuesta, writes the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration in a press release.

– We are now seeing a growing mutual interest in cooperation within the defence materiel sector between our two countries. There is potential in several areas as the procurement of defence materiel increases and the need for coordination is significant. Not least to promote the growth of the industry's production capacity, says Director General Göran Mårtensson in the press release.

The delegation met with, among others, State Secretary Peter Sandwall, FMV Director General Göran Mårtensson, and representatives from the Swedish defence industry. The visit included industrial visits to BAE Bofors, Eurenco, Nammo, and Saab Dynamics in Karlskoga.

On LinkedIn, Major General Mikael Frisell, head of FMV's Command Staff, writes that France is an important partner in the materiel sector, and continues:

"The deepening of cooperation is now taking place in accordance with the intention of the agreement that President Macron and our Prime Minister signed earlier this spring. It concerns, among other things, anti-armour capability, air surveillance and air defence, as well as supply security in the ammunition sector. Many thanks to BAE Systems Bofors, Saab, Nammo AS, and EURENCO for very valuable discussions and good industrial visits in Karlskoga on day 2 of the visit. This could be really beneficial for all parties!"
