The Swedish Fortifications Agency Acquires Property in Eskilstuna

Fortifikationsverket states in a press release that the security situation in the surrounding world is serious and work is underway to strengthen the Swedish total defence. Fortifikationsverket is a defence authority based in Eskilstuna, and to meet growth, new needs, and increased security requirements, a new property is being acquired for the headquarters. The acquisition requires a government decision.

– Our expertise is in demand by more and more actors within the total defence. To meet growth and increased security requirements, we are now taking an important step towards a new headquarters in Eskilstuna. Given the current global situation, it is entirely natural that we own the properties we ourselves use, says Director General Maria Bredberg Pettersson. After a government decision, we have the opportunity to offer an attractive workplace with robust and secure office spaces that also provide conditions for efficient working methods.

Fortifikationsverket is acquiring the properties Vapnet 1 and Vapnet 2 from Stenvalvet. The properties are located across the road from the current office, which is rented from Stenvalvet. The purchase price is 265 million kronor, and security-enhancing measures, adaptations, and extensions are required before Fortifikationsverket can move in. The plan is for the building and area to be adapted to Fortifikationsverket's growth needs with increased demands for security, control, and robustness.

If a government decision is made by mid-2023, the move to the new headquarters is expected to be completed by 2026-03-31.
