Swedish Armed Forces - Visby Harbour

Onboard HMS Belos in Visby Harbour, three lectures will be held on Thursday. In the morning, Sweden's Defence Attaché in Kiev will lecture on The War in Ukraine and Swedish Defence. Later in the morning, Chief of Defence Staff Michael Claesson and Chief of Operations Carl-Johan Edström will meet to discuss Sweden's NATO Membership and the Nordic Defence Concept. At 13:00, the service branch chiefs Jonny Lindfors, Ewa Skoog Haslum, and Jonas Wikman from the army, navy, and air force respectively will discuss The Defence of Sweden in the Short and Long Term. Swedish Psychological Defence Agency, MPF - Bryggarsalen, Mellangatan 54

MPF hosts its own venue in Bryggarsalen during Almedalen Week. On Thursday, three panel discussions will be held from 13:00 to 17:00. Society and Defence

Society and Defence co-organises two panels today together with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and FOI. From 09:00 to 10:00, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, Minister for Civil Defence, Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, Director General of MSB, Supreme Commander Micael Bydén, and CEOs from some of Sweden's largest and most important companies will discuss The Role of Business in Total Defence Development. In the afternoon, Joakim Paasikivi, Thomas Nilsson (Chief of Military Intelligence and Security Service), Oscar Jonsson, and three researchers from FOI will attempt to answer the question How Has Russia Been Affected by Its War?

Swedish Defence Research Agency, FOI

In addition to the panel discussion with Society and Defence mentioned above, FOI is organising its own seminar at 09:00 with the theme Is China Buying Influence? FOI analyst Ivar Ekman will moderate a discussion with representatives from ISP, FOI, UI, and the Sweden China Trade Council. Additionally, FOI employees will participate in two panel discussions with themes Can Sweden Protect Itself Against Cyber Attacks and Non-Military Warfare? and How Is Swedish Cultural Heritage Protected in Armed Conflict?

Aerospace Almedalen opens Strands Veranda on Thursday for a full day of discussions about aviation and space.
