During the day, the Minister of Defence is in Warsaw to meet with the defence ministers of the Northern Group, according to a press release from the Ministry of Defence. Throughout the day, the ministers will discuss security threats in the east and current issues ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius in July.

According to the press release, the Northern Group is an informal defence policy forum that complements other defence cooperations such as within the EU, NATO, or Nordefco. The Northern Group consists of the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, and the Netherlands.

During the meeting of the Northern Group, the defence ministers will discuss Russia's military capability and security in the surrounding area. Additionally, the defence ministers will discuss continued support for Ukraine. Finally, current issues ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius will be discussed.
