The Swedish Armed Forces state on their website that they will take over principal responsibility for the work of the Military Committee on 1 April, and that Vice Admiral Jonas Haggren will be appointed Sweden's Military Representative to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the EU (European Union) in Brussels, Belgium, from 1 July.
According to the Swedish Armed Forces, the government has decided that the Swedish Armed Forces will take over principal responsibility for the work of the Military Committee in Brussels from 1 April this year. Among other things, the decision means that the Swedish Armed Forces will be given responsibility for the tasks that fall within the Military Committee's work.
Vice Admiral Jonas Haggren has been appointed Sweden's Military Representative to NATO and will report directly to the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces. Jonas Haggren most recently served as Chief of the Command Staff and Head of the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters.
The decision also means that Sweden's current Military Representative to NATO and the EU, Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist, along with three further special attachés, will transfer to the Swedish Armed Forces.
